Daan Temmink is a media composer, producer and jazz pianist living in Bristol, UK. His styles vary from orchestral to electronic and jazz. His influences can be traced back to composers such as Thomas Newman, Alexander Desplat, Harry Gregson Williams and John Powell. He has recently composed music for NN on their international TV campaign ‘You Matter’. Alongside this he has written sound tracks for various documentaries and short films in the Netherlands including a permanent exhibition at the Lifeboat Museum, Den Helder. This was directed by Menno Otten, with whom he also composed music for the short film ‘Via Dolorosa’. He is currently working on both a short film and feature film by director Thijs Schreuder.
As a jazz pianist he works as a freelancer in the jazz and pop scene in the Bristol area. Recently he started his own Daan Temmink Quartet playing mostly his own compositions. With this quartet he blends various musical colours including those from film music, pop, folk and jazz.
He got his Masters in Composing for Film at Amsterdam Conservatory in 2010 and prior to that did a Jazz Piano (B.Mus) at Enschede Conservatory in the Netherlands. Before music college he spent many years playing professionally, accompanying artists and playing in clubs throughout Holland, Germany, France and Belgium.
